Almost every Mercedes Benz series analized

This book has everything you need to increase your knowledge in this classic make. It has the history of both Daimler and Benz, the birth of "Mercedes" name, the melting of the two makes in 1926 and much more. It's divided in two books displayed in a nice case. First time I saw the book over the net I was nicely surprised about the good value it is. 700 pages at an excellent price. The series are treated superficially but the pictures make worth the bucks spent. If you want in-depth analisis about a model in particular you'll need new books but there's no question about buying this one to start your apprenticeship.

Striking photography and historical data in abundance

Beautiful photographs and tons of information on early and largely unknown models of the past. However, if you expect to find a particular model, you may be disappointed. Selected models are highlighted for each chronological era. Amazingly, the flagship model of present day Mercedes-Benz, the S600 , is conspicuously absent, as are all of the S Class models. I had expected coverage of the V-12 engine, in particular. However, the presentation in three languages, with magnificent pictorials, is quite impressive, and well worth the cost.

Excellent Photography.

This is primarily a collection of magnificent photographs on virtually every significant Mercedes-Benz model right from the beginning. While the text is indeed short dn concise, it is in the photography and quality of production that these books earn their marks. The text is in three languages (English, French and German) and is accurate but short on technicality. If one is looking for information on restoring or documenting vintage automobiles, this is not the book for you. But if you like great photography of automobiles, you will appreciate this book.
Incidentally, the same set of authors/photographers have also produced an equally impressive volume on Ferraris. Also worth a look.

I used Sociodrama: Who's In Your Shoes? for the textbook for the graduate course I taught at Kansas State University. It was the textbook when Patricia Sternberg taught the course at Hunter. The authors, Patricia Sternber and Antonina Garcia are master practitioners and trainers. No one explains sociodrama better. In this book, they have shown how sociodrama can be a valuable tool for therapists, educators, and trainers. This is a truly inspiring and comprehensible read.

Seen and Not Seen

Frank Olinsky, designer of numerous rock album covers in the '80s (and an influence on the look of early MTV), teamed up with David Byrne to coordinate this collection showcasing roughly sixty artists who visually interpret the songs of the Talking Heads. The impressive roster includes Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Barbara Krueger, Nam June Paik, Jenny Holzer, Edward Ruscha, Lynda Barry, and Robert Longo. Of course, Olinsky and Byrne both provide pieces, too. In the tradition of "The Illustrated Beatles Lyrics," this book celebrates the imagination that the songs inspire, and is the perfect compliment to the music of this phenomenal band. The lyrics are displayed in text next to each piece.

One of the more thoughful 'rock' books to have been assembled....

Talking Heads are very much missed - and along with their still-amazing recordings, this late 1980s volume is a must-have for any fan of the group. Approriating the concept behing The Beatles' ILLUSTRATED LYRICS, David Byrne and graphic artist Frank Olinsky (currently best known for his work with the magazine 'Tricycle') invite a broad array of the best contemporary artists (1980s) to interpret various songs by Talking Heads.

The results were assembled with lyrics (published in justified columns, newspaper-style) facing each artwork. Artists involved include Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Sue Coe, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Krueger, Russell Mills (famed for his own similar project with Brian Eno, MORE DARK THAN SHARK) and others. The finished product remains one of the more thoughtful rock 'books' to have ever been assembled.

A must for culture geeks, or Talking Heads fans.

Innovative concept/ awesome book

What could be better than mixing contemporary art and talking heads? When I found this book on Amazon I thought it was too good to be true. I ordered it and was not disappointed. This book is awesome! Artists include Jean Michel Basquiat, Barbara Kruger, Jenny Holzer, Keith Haring...and many many others. If you're a fan of both Contemp. art and the talking heads you should probably buy this book now.

He is currently pursuing a degree in journalism at Georgia Perimeter College. When Love Takes Over: A Celebration of SGL Couples of Color is his first book. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Like Water for a Camel

This a great little book to own and display on the coffee table. It's a reminder to me that we of the African-American LGBT community are malnourished when it comes to seeing our stories and our faces prominently and consistently displayed.

Lacks a bit of substance, but is somewhat inspirational...

At one time in my life, I followed the author's blog religiously. It was by chance that I stumbled across it again and learned that he had wrote a book about black gay relationships. I immediately came to Amazon on put it on my wishlist, and not too soon I ordered my copy. It arrived, and when I cracked it open the first thing I noticed was how incredibly short the profiles on each couple were. In fact, as previously mentioned I was a long time reader of the author's blog, and noticed that it pretty much had the same profiles the author wrote previously on his blog. I did however read the entire book in one setting - easily accomplished since the profiles were about a page or a page and a half - but didn't feel any sense of greatness or hope or whatever I had when I originally found out about the book.

Minor spelling and some formatting errors aside, I do think that the idea behind and the effort in producing this book were more than worthwhile. I would have liked it more if the profiles went a little bit more in depth and spoke more about how these relationships endured. Perhaps there will be a follow-up to this where that can happen. It is something to look at the pictures of black gay men though and see the love radiate from them. I just wish I had gotten at least 1,000 for every picture that was in the book!

So, all-in-all it's an okay book. It definitely could have been more substantive, but if you just want to know that sustaining a relationship with a black gay male can be done then go ahead and pick it up. I would look to other books for important relationship advice though.

I found this book to be "Simply Beautiful." I enjoyed each and every story. A must read! This book was everything that I thought it would be. I even read it through twice. Thank you Darian Aaron!
