In doing so, it presents empirical evidence on the basis of several case studies, addressing various aspects of modern war, such as the actors, conduct and purposes of war.

Profound Thinking for the New Century

There have been numerous attempts to analyze war and the reasons for war. Clausewitz's On War, and Sun Tzu's Art of War are just two of the best known examples.

These books generally cover how and why countries go to war. They are not much help in make more sense of things like ethnic clensing in the Balkans, another genocide in Rwanda, or the 9/11 attacks. Another fundamental shift is the moving of wars away from the major powers to the developing world.

The conclusions reached by a wide selection of researchers and professors of international relations, military theory are mixed. It rather depends on how you intrepret On War, not the easiest book to read. But in any case this book provides some profound thinking on the nature of war at the beginning of the new century. All but two of the contributors are based in Europe. This brings an additional international aspect to the writing.

very eye-opening and motivational

I recently discovered Joyce Meyer and now I can't get enough of her! I definitely struggle with a "mouth issue" and as soon as I heard about this book I knew it was written for me! The book has a scripture on every page as well as personal reflections and stories from Joyce. It forces you to take a good look (or listen) at yourself. It makes you think about the consequences of things you say as well as the motivation behind what you say. It reinforces what Mom always said plain and simple..."If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it!"

If you think back on all the friends you have lost and all the times you have been in an arguement then you need to think of who was always at the seen...YOU! I have had a hard time keeping peace in my life. I always have to say what I think...well its wrong!!! This book has changed my life, my marriage, and my way of raising my children. It has humbled me and I LOVE IT> I have been freed for my MOUTH...it was out of control. This book is for you if you don't know how to Just shut up and go with the flow of life. Stop saying everything you think...just glorify God...if you want to do that...buy this book...you will want to share it too. She wrote this book for the lay person...just normal people...its for men and woman.

She has taken us from having a "wordly" acceptable behavior to being accountable of what we say to and about others and ourself.This is a must for all to read. It is food for thought! I've enjoyed it more than any book I've read in a long while. Worth reading twice!

Decent Tool for Students

I picked up SUPER READING SECRETS because I was and am still interested in learning as much as I possibly can. Being able to increase my reading speed would allow me to read more books than I can now and in turn I would learn more information. After reading the book, I do know how to increase my reading speed. The techniques that Berg suggests in SUPER READING SECRETS really do work, however, they are not something I intend to do frequently. I like reading. Even when studying, I take pleasure from most things I read. For me, there really isn't much distinction between reading for pleasure and reading for information and reading for studying. Just about everything I read is for pleasure. Most of the techniques that are suggested in the book are directed towards reading for information and reading for study.

Besides the speeding reading tips, the book is also full of useful study techniques and tips. If I was still a student in high school or college and had never discovered these tips and techniques on my own, then I would have found these parts of the book to be quite useful. However, since I already knew about these techniques I didn't get much out of these parts of the book either.

True to the title, SUPER READING SECRETS really does explain how a person can learn how to read one-page in three seconds. It takes time, but it does work. Students who have trouble studying from high school and college will get the most from this book. However, if you're someone like me who likes to read (even most textbooks) for pleasure, then you probably won't gain much from reading this book.

Good studying guide almost fullfills promise

Mr Berg book is an interesting approach to not so much speed reading than strategic reading, or rather culling, of information. Although there are speed-reading technniques per se that are well-explained in his tome, a lot of the material covered deals with planning so that you can "speed-scan" the book. He, as well, spends some pages on allied disciplines that are useful studying adjuncts. Mnemonics, memory rhythm manipulation, the use of music as recall device are summurily explored. The extensive bibliography that he provides will allow to explore these avenues further if you are so inclined. The book is a softer sell than the infomercials. Interestingly, Mr Stern does admit to some slight chicanery in his public demos...
Although it will increase your reading speed, do not expect results in the range that Mr Berg claims... as he is not really reading each and every word on the page. The book is just an okay buy in terms of content but it is so cheap that if one is interested one should buy it.

Compact & useful training guidelines

i read this book and immediately applied the techniques into practice - the result is that you don't really can remember everything you read, but you learn an efficient method how to see the essential information in the text. the book does not waste time on providing reading examples (when it does, the appendix does not contain it), but gives you on-hand instructions to learn the technique. In my experience, you don't have to follow them exactly, e.g. i didn't tape the time intervals for the exercises. the most important is that you practice - whatever exercise it is - on a regular basis. However, the book often repeats itself, one exercise was almost the same as the previous. also, you don't learn too much more specific scientific background information.

Very, very important book

This book unlocked for me a sense of how to "be" in the world. This book brings you to the realization through the deconstruction of a poem by Tilopa, an ancient Tantric practitioner, that there is nothing to seek- there is only something to realize and allow, and that is your true divine nature. This book is all about understanding that you as you are right now, are totally and completely whole and ready for intense and profound living. The struggle is not with "finding out" how to do this, rather, it is understanding how to drop all of the illusions that stand in the way of you understanding this birthright. This book was so freeing, I felt incredibly lighter when I finished it. Osho is the master at getting to the point of seemingly complicated spiritual matters with the compassion of an old friend. I have read hundreds, literally, of spiritual books, psychological books and I can say that this is the most important book I've read to date. His words truly liberated me!

Best book on Tantra!

My name is Shawn Roop of Tantra Quest, as a teacher and and committed practiionor of Tantra since 2000, Osho's Tantra The Supreme Understanding, is BY FAR the best text for the modern mind on Tantra. I still read it almost everyday, and have since 2004. Its that rich. It best on the Mahamudra Lineage, which I hold. It not a book full of Practices, its more about understanding and returning to your natural state of enlightenment and being.

Remember, this book was not written, it was spoken, you keep that in mind. The reads better if you can understand that.

Supreme Osho

This book, to me, was the best Osho book (now got about 28 of them) ever compiled.
Read it twice. The first time just drinking in its truth. The second time, very
slowly. What a giver he is! Commentaries on Tilopa's Song of Mahamudra. I wish
that at the end of the book, the compilers had had the words of the entire song all
together on a couple pages. I'm sending a new copy of this book to my daughter.
