ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY!!! CAN'T GET ENOUGH

Once again Lilly-Wilde has proven why she is untouchable as an author. I was completely enthralled in Touched By Him from the first sentence. Never would I ever think I could read not one, not two but THREE books that absolutely captured me and held me through to the words THE END!!! I cried, I laughed, I was so upset I almost through my kindle across the room and I wanted to fight!! Never have I ever read the work of an author who could reach me on so many levels and pull me thru so many emotions. When I started my journey in Untouched (Book1) and then Touched (Book2) I was captured from the start and Touched by Him did not let me down. Lilly-Wilde has a phenomenal way with words and the gift of story telling that no one could hold a candle too. I can not wait for the next release. Thank you the beautiful gift that is the story of Aiden and Aria. Chomping at the bit to see where their journey leads to next!!! 5 stars from one of your biggest fans...Lisa Upshaw

Touched By Him. And I was definitely touched by Aiden Raine. This book is a must read. Just full of passion, raw need and so much love. I seriously needed a moment to myself once I read Touched By Him. Just experiencing this book like no other and enjoying every moment of it. I've read a lot of books and this one just seemed to reach out to me. Making me feel every single emotion felt. If I could give more than 5 stars then I would. It deserves both the stars and the moon. That's how mind blowing this book was. Aiden and Aria, two souls who have been through hell and back. It was glorious traveling on their journey with them.

Touched by Him is an amazing love story. It was an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you in awe and wanting more. Lilly did an amazing job of taking you on a journey of a love that is so profound. She brought life to Aria and Aiden which was realistic and relatable. Invest in your copy and im sure you will be touched by him too! It's worth it!

About the Author
Michael Newton has taught at University College London and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. This is his first book. He currently teaches at Princeton University. He divides his time between London and Princeton, New Jersey.

Update of a fine reference

Expanded and updated edition of his original that came out in 2000. There are now entries on cases that have been solved since the first edition was released. Examples: Gary Leon Ridgway, the Green River Killer and Dennis Rader, the BTK Strangler. Other cases have been expanded. Some that were only listed in the appendixes now have entries in the main section.

The author uses the definition of a serial killer as someone who murders 2 or more persons, done as separate events. This leads to inclusion of some killers that most people would not consider serial killers. I understand the author going for a more inclusive approach than otherwise. If he didn't go this route, there would inevitably be complaints about killers left out.

I spotted very few errors and none that I would categorize as major.

I would like to see a much more comprehensive index. Trying to find an entry if all you remember is a victim name or an odd location is difficult.

The entries range from a few paragraphs to several pages. Still, if you want a detailed read on a specific case, you will need to get a book devoted to that killer. There are entries on some killers that there hasn't been a book written about, such as Melvin Rees.

Of the three SK Encyclopedias I've read, this is the best, in my opinion.

The reviews for the first edition are still mostly applicable here. I recommend reading them for other viewpoints.

Updated issue of a fascinating encyclopedia

This is a fascinating read for true crime buffs. The author's stated purpose is to "demystify, as far as possible, those predators in human form who have been with us since the dawn of history..." Serial killers at large are so frightening that they end up touching all of our lives--most especially in the United States, where 84% of all known serial killers have committed their crimes since 1980. I first became aware of this type of human predator when I was a student at the University of Michigan, and John Norman Collins was murdering coeds with pierced ears and long brown hair.

California native Michael Newton has published 181 books since 1977, including 147 novels but he is best known for his true crime and reference works. I have to say that I assumed this author was British because of his concise, witty style and also for his tendency to critique other true crime authors who failed to get their facts straight, including the names of a serial killer's victims. One of his special peeves is the term 'spree killer,' and he also doesn't seem to think much of profilers.

Most of the entries in this encyclopedia are concerned with the serial killers themselves, whether they acted alone, in twosomes, or in packs. One of the biggest surprises for me was the large number of serial killers who are or were women. Something like 12% of all serial killers are female, and Hungarian women seem especially prone to this behavior, starting with Countess Erzsebet B'thory in the sixteenth century whose final body count was somewhere between 300 and 650 victims. In the early 1900s,Vera Renczi murdered 35 husbands, lovers, and a son and was arrested by the police only after they searched her basement and discovered 35 zinc coffins. "Some evenings, Vera liked to sit among the coffins in an armchair and enjoy the company of her adoring beaux." Then there were the "Angel Makers of Nagyrev"...

Well, let me just close by remarking that "The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers" is an extremely interesting source of information on the darker side of human nature. In addition to the encyclopedia entries, there are also appendices on "Solo Killers," "Team Killers," and "Unresolved Cases," plus an extensive bibliography.

Romantic Mystery

Another page turner! I really enjoyed the "mystery" in this book...and found it difficult to put down. The tension between the main characters was well-balanced, and not as exhausting for the reader as in the first book.

Anyone who enjoys a good romantic mystery will not be disappointed.

"Stay With Me" - A Great Sequel and Well Worth the Read!

This is a really, really great sequel to the first "Quaking Heart Novel" - Ride With Me. One reason I gave it 4-stars is the Author's diligence and finesse in connecting the two books. She went back a couple of chapters from book One - during a "natural disaster" of sorts, and re-told the events through the eyes of the characters around whom the second installment would revolve. It was one of the most beautifully done transitions I have ever read. Often, authors will have characters in the next book "remember" an event and " review" the outcome with a few thoughts or a brief conversation . . . this was just really well done!
The story itself is interesting, the characters of Rose Marie and Johnnie are personable and engaging, and there is a re-connect with core characters and settings from the first book.
There is sexual tension between the characters, but there is absolutely NOTHING explicit, and Christian Faith and Morality are shown to be the reason for not yielding to temptation.

A fantastic series so far!

I loved book 1, "Ride With Me". I didn't think I would like "Stay With Me" as much. I was pleasantly proven wrong. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would! I liked Johnny in book 1 and didn't care for Rosie. My opinion of her drastically changed for the better in her and Johnnies story. This is only the 2nd book I have read by this author and it won't be the last. I loved how these 2 books were written and how the author developed the characters and story line. I can't wait to read book 3, Jakes story. I hope I don't have to wait too long before its released. If you've read book one, I highly recommend that you read this book also. If you haven't, I highly recommend you read that both of them, in order as they were written. Thank you Ms. Hooper for 2 thoroughly enjoyable stories!

Hosler (Clan Apis; Sandwalk Adventures) is also a professor of biology and provides readers with much more than a simple graphic primer on evolution. Witty, engaging, and educational.

Using the same framing device as The Stuff of Life: A Graphic Guide to Genetics and DNA (aliens discuss the subject, giving an "outsider's" perspective and an excuse for lots of explanation and examples), "Evolution" depicts the theory using historical snippets, wise and wonderful illustrations, and cutting-edge information. While the target audience might be the 10- to 16-year-old set, this middle-aged man, well-versed in evolutionary science basics, found a lot to love in this book. For one thing, it's just super-cute a lot of the time. And while technically I didn't learn anything really new in it, seeing ideas I already grasped presented in fresh, captivating ways makes them feel new again.

I suppose that's what "Evolution" does for me. If books like this existed when I was a kid, I didn't know about them, and I spent benighted decades preferring magical answers to actual science. This book, with its great information and frankly kind of juvenile presentation, helps make me feel more like a kid again, making old discoveries for a first time. That's some real magic.

Engaging, funny, informative

This is a great book for anyone who is interested in learning more about how the world around them works, but is daunted (or bored) by the more traditional textbooks of the classroom. Through its narrative framework and captivating illustrations, this book makes the more technical, elusive details of biological processes and evolutionary mechanisms relatable, imaginable, and ultimately knowable. It's packed with information but fun to read. Definitely worth it.
