About the Author
Dr. Vincent C. Giampapa is a Board Certified Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon and Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is the Director of the Plastic Surgery Center Internationale and The Giampapa Institute for Anti-Aging Medical Therapy. Dr. Giampapa received his M.D. degree from Mt. Sinai Medical School in New York City, New York and continued his medical training in aesthetic plastic surgery. Upon becoming a certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Giampapa completed a year of microsurgery and hand fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Founding Member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and served as President of the American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine. He was one of the first Board Certified anti-aging aesthetic plastic surgeons in the world. Over the past seven years, Dr. Giampapa has been featured in many radio and television programs, including Phil Donahue, Joan Rivers, Geraldo Rivers and the McLaughlin Report. He has also published numerous articles in both national and international plastic surgical journals as well as book chapters. He has been features in many articles in both national and international magazines concerning cosmetic surgery and new surgical techniques. Dr. Giampapa has served as Research Fellow for such other prestigious institutes as Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City and has been the Director of Microsurgery and Re-plantation Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. His writings have been published in numerous academic journals including the Annals of Plastic Surgery, the Journal of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery as well as the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has also served as a consultant for NASA in reference to the robotic arm of the space shuttle. His research has been published in technical journal formats as well as genetic engineering journals and other research publications. He has been awarded over a dozen patents from the United States Government for unique cell culture delivery techniques as well as new drug delivery systems, and surgical instrument designs. Dr. Giampapa is well known in the United States, Latin America and Europe where he lectures regularly. He is recognized as an innovator in new cosmetic and surgical techniques and surgical instrumentation.

Good book, good to see a lot of info in one place. Even though it is 2012 copyrighted, some of the science has been dated, but it is a fast moving field. I still recommend it.

Dethier is a Research Associate Professor in the Biology Department at the University of Washington and is in residence at the Friday Harbor Laboratories.

Like our recent passage to Pluto

You have never in your life read a book of this quality. You really feel in every sense of the word, transported to a different age and into the lives of
extremely interesting people caught up in the history of the era. As the book will tell you all that happened is taken from ships diaries and logs, so there can be no altering what occurs. One of the very, very few books that actually made my heart pound. British captains of the era were expected to win or be put on shore. Our sense of morality and even the evolution of the definition of civilization itself will be challenged by the every day stories of these peoples lives. Like our recent passage to Pluto, we had not the slightest true idea of what turned out to actually be there. As you read from the 1st book to the last #21, the complexity of life then and now will more open to you. Few books can enlarge your understanding of humankind like this series.

O'Brian at his best - there is even a drunken Sloth!

All of the elements that make O'Brian so enjoyable are here, in spades. There are volumes written by other reviewers that detail the plot points, character development, etc. so all I will say is it's an excellent addition to the series and read on, my friends, read on.

Awesome seafaring fun. A must read!!

HMS Surprise, by Patrick O'Brian is the third in the Aubrey/Maturin series of novels about the British Navy during the early 19th Century. This tome starts with Captain Jack Aubrey, now a post captain, temporarily commanding the large frigate HMS Lively while the primary captain is busy with another task. His job as captain is the boring job of running a blockade, and he is bored, broke, and trying to find a way to find enough money to marry his sweetheart, Sophie Williams.
Thanks to some intervention by his good friend and surgeon, Stephen Maturin, he is given command of HMS Surprise, a small frigate which Jack served on as a young midshippman. Jack is charged with the task of protecting the East-India fleet from destruction and confication by the French.
His job takes him to the great India subcontinent, and the rich sights and smells that go with it. Along the way we see an amazing storm at sea, the damage that can be inflicted on a ship and her crew while rounding Cape Horn, an amazing act of surgery performed by Stephen Maturin.
The final battle that pits "Lucky" Jack Aubrey, the Surprise and a vastly outgunned fleet of ships against the far superior French forces. The story more is clear, fast paced, and exciting. Just like Jack now commands a ship he knew is his youth, HMS Surprise moves along at a comfortable enjoyable pace as O'Brian comes into his element at writing great stories.
The story is exciting, fun to read, and the characters are truly interesting and well developed. As anyone who is interested in 19th century "ships of the line", naval history, or just love a great story, this book is sure to please.

The reason for Derek’s change of heart is Trevor Ladouceur. Five years ago Derek and Trevor were linemates on Team Canada at the World Junior Championship. They were inseparable both on and off the ice and became known as the Wonder Twins. After winning the gold medal, they slept together. Trevor was gone the next morning, and they haven’t spoken since. Now they’re together again, and the expectation is for the Wonder Twins to help Detroit win the Stanley Cup. Much to Derek’s dismay, he realizes he’s falling in love with Trevor all over again.

Missed the Mark by Miles

I love when new authors write and publish M/M romance fiction. The more the merrier! And while I did not like this book, the author did a nice job of writing it. It had little to no typos, there was no annoying jumping around from POV to POV and the description of events was easy to decipher.

The problem here is the content.

MC Derek "Veens" LaVigne is a young hockey player in the NHL. 5 years ago he played on the Canadian hockey team that won a gold medal at Junior Worlds with close teammate and lineman Trever "Laddie" Ladouceur. The men enjoyed a great connection that spilled over on the ice that soon had their coach and fans calling them The Wonder Twins.

On the night of their final win at Junior Worlds, after some cocktails for liquid courage, Derek and Trevor fall into bed together. When Derek wakes the next morning, he finds Trevor long gone and doesn't hear from him until 5 years later when Derek is traded to the Detroit Wheels, which is the team Trevor plays for.

Here is where things get rough. Trevor treats Derek like a leper or, more appropriately, like a third grade girl with the mad case of the cooties. He avoids Derek at every turn and even refuses to pass the puck and play like teammates during their games. The book is written from Derek's POV, so we get to see the constant conflicting emotions in his head. From one minute to the next, Derek goes from lusting after Trevor, hating Trevor for being a jerk and loving Trevor and the connection they once shared.

There was absolutely NOTHING romantic in this book. There was one sex scene at the 95% mark that I actually skimmed because I was so disgusted with Trevor being a jerk for years and years and them suddenly declaring his undying love to Derek, for which Derek immediately rolls over and swoons with mutual love. Yep. Derek the Doormat.

There is not one thing I can recommend to anyone wanting to read this book. I do hope the author will try again, but this was just a huge fail for me.

Good on the sport action, poor on the romance

I love reading books with a sports theme, and this one was great in the parts that related to the hockey games and training but the romance part of this book let it down.

Derek and Trevor meet 5 years ago playing on the same team at the Junior Championship. They became inseparable and their closeness transferred to the ice giving them the moniker of "the wonder twins". Neither of them knew if the other one was gay or not, and after a night out celebrating their championship win they got together. Trevor disappears during the night and they have not seen each other since. 5 years later they are both playing for different NHL teams. Derek is transferred to Trevor's team in the hopes that they can reproduce the magic of the "wonder twins".
The story starts with Derek's transfer and Trevor's cold reception to Derek and progresses through them trying to navigate through past hurts. It takes along time for the guys to finally get together.

My problems with this one came from the two MCs, Derek and Trevor. Both characters seem like they have bipolar as the moods changed rapidly throughout the book. One minute they have a slight friendship then back to arguing or not talking to each other. I really didn't feel any connection between them other than the fist love aspect. I can't understand with the way Trevor treated Derek he kept trying to be friendly with him. Trevor's about face came out of nowhere.

I also had a problem with Derek and this part is going to be hard to articulate. Derek spent a lot of the book pushing Trevor to admit he was gay. Now in a lot of other books in this genre where the characters were hooking up continually and one character was refusing to admit he was gay, I would be totally on Derek's side wanting Trevor to admit it. But in this book, there was no hooking up. They got together for one night 5 years ago, and as far as Derek knew, Trevor had a girlfriend and was continually saying he was straight. Who's to say that he wasn't bi, experimenting all those years ago or just living behind his own wall of denial. So be it, that's his choice. Without the hookups Derek's continual argument about it felt to me really pushy and kind of forcing him to admit it. I wanted Derek to leave Trevor alone and let him work it out for himself. If Trevor didn't want him, which it felt like that for 90% of the book, Derek should have just moved on and given up on his first love.

The women in this book were portrayed appallingly. With the exception of Derek's mother, who was hardly seen, all of the women were written as the ball breaking she wolves. Surely there could have been at least I female character that had page time written as a normal human being.

I gave this one 2.5 stars and that was due only to the hockey parts

Hockey romance between teammates in the big leagues worth reading

Linemates takes us into the world of fictional pro hockey to meet two closeted players who once hooked up in the glory of a gold medal, now seemingly worlds apart. They end up on the same team and the tension is palpable. It is well written in that I liked the plot, the action, and the characters, and could feel their motivations. The angry deep in the closet Trevor, who shows anger and derision because he is afraid to be exposed. The love torn Derek, wanting what he shouldn't want. The jealous girlfriend. I even enjoyed the hockey sections. It's funny. Some reviewers say there is too much hockey, but I don't hear that there is too much running in the Harlan books, for example. If you pick up a hockey romance, expect, you know, hockey. I actually thought the hockey scenes were too tame and not fleshed out enough. So there you go. Different strokes... I pulled for Derek and Trevor to make it. There were few sex scenes, and it was mostly a will they or won't they book. I enjoyed the ending, and it left me wanting to see more of what happens after they make their main decision.

The Perfectly Satisfied Person of Either Sex's Guide to Buy This Book

This is a drum-tight, thoughtful, hilarious book. Despite the title, this book is perfect for men who are not at all bitter, for women, etc. It is not perfect for those who hate joy and happiness. You, who are reading this, should purchase it. And then purchase a copy as a gift for all of your friends. And then purchase several more reserve copies in case you make new friends in the future.

About the Author
Lone Sorensen developed Face Reflexology over the course of her 29-year career during which she researched traditional healing therapies from around the world and combined her findings with medical knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology. Lone trained as a reflexology in 1978 in Denmark and later in acupuncture and laser therapy. In 1985 Lone moved to Argentina where she established the first three reflexology schools and trained almost 2000 Foot and Face reflexologists over a 12-year period. Lone is tireless in her quest for knowledge. She has studied in Chile, Cuba, France, Spain and Germany, attendeing conferences all over the world. Her work has been published in Spanish, Danish, Polish, Japanese, Italy, Swedish and more recently in English after she presented her first UK workshop in 2001. OMG Fantastic!

This book starts with Orion being shot and the shooter is not who I thought it was! Artemis is kiddanaped and we find out why but I can't tell you lol they try to convince her they are helping and Orion is bad but Artemis isn't buying it. She also gets the real reason why her roommate was kidnapped and here he is but can she save him?
Fantastic story! I loved the way Orion and Artemis has changed and grown together over the series. This has got to be one of the best series I have read and it's at the top of my list of favorites
The twist and turns in this is awesome and my favorite part is I can't guess what will happen next! Action, mystery, drama and it's spicy hot you will not be disappointed. This story needs 10 stars 5 us just not enough!

Wolf mates changing the world

This end to the series was worth the wait.
Oh my gosh! This book has a lot of action. I didn't even guess as to where the story would go. What a great job done.
Bloodbound left Orion being shot. Heartbound picks up from there and it all gets exciting, intriguing with mystery.
Artemis comes into herself with her powers with her mate Orion. Every where they turn someone wants to rip them apart.
They both tackle trying to find her vampire friend Lawrence. The poor guy himself is tortured by someone that should have wanted to keep Orion safe.
You just don't want to put this book down when you start reading it. Sylvia does a wonderful ending and follows up with a one year epilogue to what the characters are doing.
Orion is no longer so serious and has surprises for Artemis. Lawrence has met someone new and has even ventured off into something that he loves doing.
Read this book. You won't regret it.
I will miss the characters a lot. So I am sure that I'll be re-reading the set again.

Good Ending To A Great Little Series

Good ending to a great little series. I really enjoyed the first three books and the third one ended on quite a cliff hanger so I kept watching for the last one. My waiting was well rewarded. I enjoyed seeing more of Orion's vulnerable side as well as watching Artatmes grow. I pre ordered the anthology just to read her next book. Go Frosty! I'm looking forward to reading more of your books. And don't worry about the delayed release. You're growing and learning and as long as no one died it's all good. :)
